Title: Chub Frank Runs To Second-Place Finish At Lernerville Post by LMR on 05/27/11 at 2:42am FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 26, 2011 ________________________________________ Chub Frank Runs To Second-Place Finish At Lernerville With Brand-New Car BEAR LAKE, PA – Chub Frank certainly wasn’t thrilled about registering a runner-up finish in last Friday night’s 25-lap dirt Late Model feature at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa. But the 49-year-old standout from Bear Lake, Pa., was at least satisfied with his performance. It came in his first start behind the wheel of a new Corry Rubber/Hino Toyota Rocket car. “We took a new car down there to break it in,” Frank said of his appearance at Lernerville on May 20 during an idle weekend from World of Outlaws Late Model Series action. “Everything on it was brand-new, including the motor. It’s the car I’m hoping to run in the (WoO LMS) Firecracker (100 on June 23-25).” Frank was pretty pleased with the machine. He started sixth in the headliner and quickly moved up to third place, but he wasn’t able to secure second place until just a few laps remained and wasn’t able to challenge winner Dave Hess Jr. “We just did a bunch of different stuff to the car,” said Frank. “It worked pretty well, but we’ll get a better feel for where we’re at with it when we go back and try some other stuff.” With his Memorial Day weekend free from WoO LMS competition due to the recent postponement of tour events at West Virginia Motor Speedway and Beckley (W.Va.) Motor Speedway, Frank plans to return to Lernerville to run another regular show this Friday night (May 27). He will “car pool” to the track once again, sharing a trailer with his cousin and shop-mate Rick ‘Boom’ Briggs to cut down on diesel-fuel costs. Frank, who might add a Sunday event to his schedule this weekend, has finished second in three of his last four starts. He was also the runner-up in WoO LMS events on May 7 at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway and May 8 at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, Ga., before struggling to a 14th-place finish in Outlaw action on May 12 at Delaware International Speedway.
