Injury Forces Boom Briggs to End 2010 Season Early

Bear Lake, PA (November 3, 2010) Rick ‘Boom’ Briggs of Bear Lake, PA had his 2010 season come to an abrupt end after he had an engine lock up during the season finale at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, PA and an ATV accident that forced him to miss his final scheduled event with the O’Reilly All Star Late Model Series at K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, OH.

On Saturday, October 23 Briggs was getting ready to compete in the ‘Steel City Stampede’ at Lernerville Speedway when the engine in his Boom’s Meridien Hardwoods, Sorbera Family Chiropractic, Horton Equipment, Asel Enterprises, Briggs Transport, Tony Stec Lumber, Chub Frank Racing, CJ’s Auto Transport sponsored #99B Rocket Chassis locked up before the event leaving him unable to compete at the famed Sarver, PA oval.

Boom’s injuries he sustained from the ATV accident were nowhere near what were originally thought when the accident happened. ‘I have another concussion but everything is fine with my head,’ Boom said from his Bear Lake, PA home, ‘I got a concussion a few years ago when we raced at Cornwall and when my brother seen that I was knocked out, a red flag popped up in his head. They airlifted me to Erie as a precaution but other than being pretty darn sore, everything is fine. I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers after hearing about my situation, it means a lot to me knowing that so many people in the racing community care about not only me, but everyone that is involved in racing.’

With Boom missing the final ASLMS event at K-C Raceway, he slipped from third to fourth in the final point standings as Gregg Satterlee finished 12th at K-C to leapfrog Briggs. ‘This accident has a positive effect on me though,’ Boom stated, ‘I’ve got a lot of motivation for 2011 now, time to put 2010 in the past and focus on 2011. We have a brand new car at the shop that needs built and another one that is completely stripped and getting rebuilt. We want to head to Florida in February completely fresh, with all brand new equipment and get a great start to the year.’ Briggs continued, ‘2010 was definitely not our best year but I want to thank Meridien Hardwoods, Sorbera Family Chiropractic, Horton Equipment, Asel Enterprises, Briggs Transport, Tony Stec Lumber and all the rest of my sponsors for sticking by us as we fought through 2010. Without them none of this would be possible for any of us racers. Also the fans, I have a pretty solid fan base and they all have been so great to me throughout not only this year, but every year. The fans make all of the hard work we put in worth it, fans are the heart of the sport and without them as well, we wouldn’t have anything.’
