Title: Jonathan Davenport Readies for the World 100 Post by LMR on 09/08/10 at 3:58pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 8, 2010 Jonathan Davenport Readies for World 100 After Strong Labor Day Weekend; Debuts New Website (COWPENS, SOUTH CAROLINA) Jonathan Davenport and the Barry Wright House Car team invaded the Mountaineer State of West Virginia over the Labor Day holiday weekend for mega-events at the Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne and the West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells. On Friday and Saturday, September 3-4, Tyler County played host to the inaugural 'Black Diamond 125' weekend, which featured a unique format to say the least. In the $10,000 to win opener on Friday evening, Jonathan won his stacked heat race, but suffered problems in the 51-lap feature event, which relegated him to disappointing eighteenth place effort. Things went much smoother for the #49 team on Saturday night at Tyler County. After the stellar field was split up into two $20,000 to win programs, Jonathan started from the ninth row in his 50-lapper. He did not stay at the back of the pack for long, as he blasted through the field to score a third place performance behind only winner Donnie Moran and runner-up Bub McCool. By virtue of his strong finish, the Blairsville, Georgia native also advanced into the $10,000 winner-take-all 'Sweet 16 Shootout.' Jonathan lined up tenth in the finale and was running third in the late stages of the 25-lap race when he was the beneficiary of a tangle for the top spot, which allowed him to reach the checkers first ahead of Jamie Lathroum, Robbie Scott, Mike Benedum, and Donnie Moran! Following the exciting $10,000 triumph at Tyler County, the Barry Wright House Car team ventured to the 5/8-mile West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, West Virginia on Sunday, September 5 for the historic 'Hillbilly Hundred.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series once again sanctioned the nation's oldest event and a whopping $42,000 payday was up for grabs. Jonathan topped Group A during the qualifying session and later ran second in the first heat race behind Dale McDowell. After rolling off from the inside of the third row in the 100-lap A-Main at WVMS, Jonathan stayed out of trouble, ran amongst the top five for the entire race, and wound up second behind only winner Scott Bloomquist. The driver known as "Superman" will be back in action this upcoming weekend (September 10-11) at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The 40th Annual 'World 100' will take place this weekend at the "Big E" and a $43,000 top prize will be up for grabs. Qualifying will take place on Friday night, while heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap main event are scheduled for Saturday evening. Jonathan will look for another sterling run at Eldora, as he was fast all weekend during the 'Dream 100' back in June.
