Title: Scott James Claims First Win of 2010 at Florence Post by LMR on 08/11/10 at 11:55pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: August 11, 2010 Scott James Claims First Win of 2010 in North/South 100 Final Tune-Up at Florence (BRIGHT, INDIANA) Scott James and the #s44 Scotty Earl Racing team claimed their first victory of the 2010 racing season on Saturday night, August 7 at the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky! Scott won his heat race in preliminary action and accumulated the most passing points in doing so, which enabled him to start the A-Main from the pole position. The Bright, Indiana native was dominant during the 30-lap feature event and picked up the $1,500 top prize by defeating Jason Jameson, Josh Williams, Rick Combs, and Jerry Rice. Complete results from the regular weekly show at Florence can be found online at www.florencespeedway.com. "We finally shook that monkey off that has been on our back lately," stated James this week. "The car has been pretty good all year long, but we just haven't been able to show it. Either we get caught up in a wreck or something breaks, it seems like one thing or another takes us out of contention. It feels great to finally put an entire night together and get into victory lane. The car was exceptional on the bottom of the track and hopefully we can get it to perform that way at the North/South 100 this weekend!" The #s44 team and Scott James have turned their single focus this week towards the upcoming 'North/South 100,' which will be held on Friday and Saturday, August 13-14 at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will sanction the annual crown jewel event, which pays a whopping $50,000 to the winner and $2,500 to start. Qualifying will take place at the Cincinnati area venue on Friday evening, while heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap 'North/South 100' are scheduled for Saturday night. Additional information on one of the biggest weekends in our sport can be located at www.lucasdirt.com. All summer long, fans are encouraged to donate money for Scott James to "Brave the Shave!" The campaign, which kicked off at the 'Dream 100' in early June, will culminate during the 'World 100' weekend at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on September 9-11. Scott, along with twenty other drivers, will shave their heads at Eldora to raise money for three worthy cancer charities.
