Scott James Gears Up for Ponderosa and Richmond Doubleheader this Weekend

(BRIGHT, INDIANA)  The "Silver Shark" Scott James and the Scotty Earl Racing team traveled to the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois and the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Kentucky over the July 9-10 weekend. At Granite City on Friday night, Scott had his sights set on the $10,000 top prize in the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals event. He timed in sixth fastest in his group during qualifying, but unfortunately suffered problems due to the rough track conditions in his heat race. Scott decided to load up following the heat race and did not compete in the 40-lap main event.

On Saturday evening at Bardstown, the NASRA Super Late Model Series rolled into town to sanction the $5,000 to win 'Kentuckiana Klash.' Scott grabbed the third transfer spot in his competitive heat race and later rolled off ninth on the grid in the 40-lap feature event. The Bright, Indiana native was heading for a top ten finish in the 'Kentuckiana Klash' until he slowed on lap 33 and wound up nineteenth in the final rundown. Complete results from both programs can be found online at www.thehelltour.com and www.nasra.com.

Scott and the #s44 team have a pair of $5,000 to win showdowns in the Commonwealth of Kentucky on their racing calendar for the July 16-17 weekend.  The legendary Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky will kick things off tomorrow night with a $5,000 to win NASRA Super Late Model Series program.  Following the ‘John Bradshaw Memorial’ at Ponderosa, the action will quickly shift to the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky on Saturday evening.  Another $5,000 winner’s check will be on the line at Richmond in the annual running of the ‘Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge Memorial.’  Additional information on both shows can be located at www.ponderosaspeedway.net and www.richmond-raceway.net.

All summer long, fans are encouraged to donate money for Scott James to “Brave the Shave!”  The campaign, which kicked off at the ‘Dream 100’ in early June, will culminate during the ‘World 100’ weekend at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on September 9-11.  Scott, along with twenty other drivers, will shave their heads at Eldora to raise money for three worthy cancer charities.  You can learn more about A Head for A Cure and the “Brave the Shave” campaign by clicking on www.ahead4acure.com.
