Scott James Readies for Ponderosa and Bardstown After Strong Summer Nationals Weekend

(BRIGHT, INDIANA)  Scott James and the Scotty Earl Racing team went out on the road over the July 2-4 weekend for a trio of UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals events. On Friday night, the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky played host to a $10,000 to win showdown. Scott James timed in second fastest in his group during qualifying and later won his heat race. After starting fourth on the grid in the 40-lap main event and losing his brakes early in the race, Scott drove his #s44 Rocket racecar to a stellar fourth place effort behind only winner Billy Moyer, Jimmy Mars, and Jason Feger.

The I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri was up next for the team on Saturday evening, as another $10,000 top prize was up for grabs. Scott laid down the quickest lap in his group during qualifying and ran second in heat race action. The Bright, Indiana native rolled off from the outside of the fourth row in the 40-lapper and worked his way by two competitors en route to a strong sixth place performance behind only winner Billy Moyer, Will Vaught, Brian Birkhofer, Billy Moyer, Jr., and Dennis Erb.

Scott and the #s44 team then celebrated our nation's birthday on Sunday at the Lincoln Speedway in Lincoln, Illinois. The driver known as the "Silver Shark" was the fastest qualifier in his group, won his heat race, and later drew the third starting spot prior to the $5,000 to win A-Main. Unfortunately, Mother Nature stepped in prior to the 40-lap race and postponed it until July 25. Complete results from the tripleheader "Hell Tour" weekend can be found online at www.thehelltour.com.

“I think we finally turned the corner last weekend,” quoted James yesterday via telephone.  “Everyone has been working really hard and finally we got some results to show how good our car has been lately.  I have to thank Robert and Scotty Earl, along with Mike Dargie, for putting together an awesome new motor.  We qualified up front at all three races last weekend and that is what it takes to run up front consistently in these bigger shows.  Hopefully, we can keep things rolling this weekend at Ponderosa and Bardstown!”

The James/Earl tandem will hook up again this upcoming weekend (July 9-10) at the Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Kentucky and the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Kentucky.  The National All Star Racing Association (NASRA) will sanction a $5,000 to win program on Friday night at “The Pond,” while a similar show will be held on Saturday evening at Bardstown. Additional information on the NASRA doubleheader weekend can be viewed at www.nasra.com.

All summer long, fans are encouraged to donate money for Scott James to “Brave the Shave!”  The campaign, which kicked off at the ‘Dream 100’ in early June, will culminate during the ‘World 100’ weekend at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on September 9-11.  Scott, along with twenty other drivers, will shave their heads at Eldora to raise money for three worthy cancer charities.  You can learn more about A Head for A Cure and the “Brave the Shave” campaign by clicking on www.ahead4acure.com.
