Title: Big Two-Day Fastrak Weekend at West Virginia Motor Speedway Post by LMR on 07/08/10 at 3:12pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 7, 2010 BIG 2-DAY FASTRAK WEEKEND AT WEST VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY; MOV TOURING FRIDAY & $10,000 TO-WIN SATURDAY FOR NE & MOV By Mike Leone Mineral Wells, WV…The FASTRAK Northeast & Mid-Ohio Valley Late Model Touring Series are set for a huge two-day weekend at West Virginia Motor Speedway this Friday and Saturday at the huge 5/8-mile speed plant located just south of Parkersburg in Mineral Wells. On Friday, the Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series will conclude their May 16 25-lap $1,200 to-win make-up feature then run a complete new program featuring a 25-lap $1,200 to-win, $150 to-start. The feature field for the make-up program is already set and no new cars will be added. If there are 30 or more cars, the new “Wheelman” Bonus Event Challenge Series will debut for drivers that fail to qualify for the feature. On Saturday, the Northeast and Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series will join up in the $10,000 to-win National Event. Though the event will be run under National Championship format including time trials, the event will be a full points paying event for both the Northeast and Mid-Ohio Valley. This will be the first time in the seven-year history of FASTRAK that an entire $10,000 to-win event has been contested in one day! After going more than one year winless on the Northeast Touring Series, Mike Pegher, Jr. has been red hot of late scoring three of the last four Touring Events with victories at Central PA Speedway, Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex, and most recently Saturday’s $6,000 Mercer Raceway Park event. After a slow start, the Wexford, Pa. driver has climbed to second in points just 30 behind Blair and would love to go for the $12,400 weekend sweep! Blair, the 2008 Northeast Touring Series Champion, opened the year with a $1,500 victory over 53 cars at Tyler County Speedway and then won an exciting Expo event last Wednesday with a last lap pass to claim the $2,000 prize for the second straight year. Blair has yet to turn a lap on the West Virginia Motor Speedway and will have his hands full with the best FASTRAK racers in the country. There have been 42 Northeast Touring Series races contested with 19 different winners all-time in the Northeast Touring Series meaning nearly a new winner every other event! Max Blair currently sits atop the all-time win list at seven followed by Pegher with six, Dick Barton, Bobby Powell, and John Lacki with four, David Scott with three, Alan Dellinger with two, and Todd Andrews, Kyle Drum, Frank Guidace, Butch Lambert, Carl McKinney, Dennis Lunger, Jr., Tom Snyder, Jr., Chris Meadows, Jim Frank, Blose, Holtgraver, and Robbie Blair with one victory.
