Busy Fourth of July Holiday Schedule Awaits the Stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

CORONA, CA (June 25, 2010) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series embarks on a very busy month of July starting on Thursday Night, July 1st with a first ever visit to Beckley Motorsports Park in Beckley, WV. The event is part of a three-race weekend trip to the "Mountaineer State" of West Virginia and the "Buckeye State" of Ohio. On Saturday Night, July 3rd the stars of the LOLMDS will compete in the "Budweiser 50" at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, OH and on Sunday Night, July 4th the stars of the LOLMDS will visit Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH. All three events will pay $10,000 to win and $700 to start.

The visit to Beckley Motorsports Park on Thursday Night, July 1st will mark the 56th different track that the series has visited since its inception. The Jim and Ken Williams promoted facility hosts stop number nineteen on the 2010 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule. On Saturday Night, July 3rd Ronnie Moran and his Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, OH presents the "Budweiser 50" for the LOLMDS. Along with the nation's best dirt late model drivers there will be a gigantic fireworks display at Muskingum County. In the previous five appearances, there have been five different winners including; Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN; Steve Shaver of Vienna, WV; Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN; Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI; and last year's winner, Jason Covert of York Haven, PA.

To top off the Fourth of July Holiday weekend the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series heads to the banks of the Ohio River to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH on Sunday Night, July 4th. The event will mark the fourth ever appearance at the Donna Rayburn and Chuck Greenslate promoted facility for the LOLMDS. There have been three different winners in the previous three appearances at PRP with Steve Francis of Ashland, KY; Josh McGuire of Grayson, KY; and last year's winner, Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN took home the top honors. All three tracks will present a complete show for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Wiles Drive Shafts, AFCO, All Star Performance and SuperFlow Heat Races followed by the Hawk Performance Brake Pads and Performance Rod and Custom B-Mains and the $10,000 to win/$700 to start main events.

Coming into the month of July it will be a crucial stretch of races for the series drivers as defending series champion, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN is atop the championship point's standings. The series title in 2010 pays $75,000 to win.

Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN is second in points as he and Bloomquist lead the series with five wins apiece they are followed by 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, 2-time series runner-up, Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN and 2010 DART Show-Me 100 winner, Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC.

The rest of the top ten heading to West Virginia and Ohio are former Hav-A-Tampa Series Champion, Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA; former Eldora Dirt Late Model Dream Winner, Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN; former World 100 and North/South 100 champion, Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI; and the top rookie contenders, Chris Wall of Holden, LA; Eric Wells of Hazard, KY; and Tim Isenberg of Marshfield, WI.

The 2010 Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year" winner will earn $10,000 for his title and second place pays $4,500 courtesy of Sweet Manufacturing. Tim Isenberg of Marshfield, WI is third behind both Wall and Wells in the rookie chase.

The tire rule will be the same for all the three events and is as follows; American Racer SD44 or any compound harder, SD44 must punch a minimum of 40; Hoosier 1300 or any compound harder, 1300 must punch a minimum of 40.
