R.J. Conley Takes Portsmouth Victory for Third Win of Season

(WHEELERSBURG, OHIO) R.J. Conley captured his third feature win of the 2010 racing season last Saturday night, June 19 at the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio! After laying down the quickest lap during the qualifying session at PRP, R.J. ran third in the dash to earn the inside second row starting spot in the A-Main. The Wheelersburg, Ohio native quickly moved to the front of the field, as he passed his dad Delmas Conley on the third circuit for the point. R.J. then led the remainder of the regular weekly show to claim the $2,000 top prize over Mark Frazier, Greggie Oliver, Rod Conley, and Nick Bocook.

Delmas and Rod Conley, in addition to competing at Portsmouth on Saturday, also entered a $4,000 to win unsanctioned event on Friday evening, June 18 at the Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, Ohio. Both drivers ended up in the top ten of the 40-lapper at Rocky Top, as Delmas crossed underneath the checkers in the sixth position and Rod in the seventh spot. In the final rundown at Portsmouth, Rod was fourth and Delmas was twentieth after being involved in an incident with Jackie Boggs. Complete results from both weekend events can be found online at www.rockytopraceway.net and www.portsraceway.com.

It will be a lighter schedule for the Conley Motorsports, Inc. team this upcoming weekend, as Rod plans to take the weekend off from racing action. Delmas is scheduled to tackle the K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio on Saturday night, June 26 for a pair of $1,500 to win Twin 25s. R.J. will look for a second straight victory at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on Saturday, as another $2,000 winner’s check will be on the line at PRP.
