Wayne Chinn's weekend plagued by mechanical issues

On Friday evening Chinn Motorsports rolled into Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, Ohio for the “Les Boggs 50” paying $5,000 to the winner. “The Sniper” Wayne Chinn clocked in fifth fastest out of the twenty-six entrants and went on to win his qualifying heat race over Steve Casebolt and Eddie Carrier Jr.

The Erwin Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Troy Ohio / Sugar Creek Packing /American Racer Tires #1 C.J. Rayburn Race Car was set to roll off from outside the second row for the 50 lap feature event, but moved up to the front row after original front row starter Jeep VanWormer pulled off the track after the first attempt to start the race. When the green flag dropped it would be Casebolt and Chinn racing side by side for the lead. Casebolt led the opening lap, but “The Sniper” used the high side of the race track to take the lead on lap 2 coming off turn four.

Chinn took the lead and stretched it out to eight car lengths until a lap 13 caution waved and the Erwin Chrysler Dodge Jeep of Troy Ohio / Sugar Creek Packing /American Racer Tires #1 C.J. Rayburn Race Car pulled off the track with mechanical issues in the engine, ending a shot at winning two in a row.
