This past weekend of racing brought about an interesting and unexpected change to the Laraway Motorsports lineup. Prior commitments at college prohibited Dane Laraway from competing in this past weekend’s races, leaving the number 1 car in need of a driver. Laraway Motorsports decided the best solution was to suit up an old driver as a substitute for Dane. The old, dusty driver was none other than team owner, Brian Laraway. After a five year hiatus from piloting a race car, Brian managed to finish the feature race in ninth place; not a bad finish for the old, dusty race team owner! The Laraway Motorsports team is looking forward to Dane’s return to the driver seat this coming weekend.

Sammy Stile, on the other hand, started the weekend off at Dog Hollow Speedway with his first feature win of the 2010 season. The previous Friday night at Dog Hollow saw Sammy struggling with an oily film on the front brake rotors, which had embedded into the pads. The team addressed the problem this past week, obviously making a difference in the car’s performance, as Sammy lead every lap of the twenty (20) lap feature.

Saturday night at Marion Center Speedway brought about a second place finish for Sammy Stile, after starting in a fifth place position. Brian Laraway finished in 12th place, after starting the feature race in a front row position. Although the five years of accumulated rust on the substitute driver was obvious, the car performed well on both nights of racing, with no damage to report.

This weekend of racing will see Dane Laraway and Sammy Stile returning to Dog Hollow Speedway and Marion Center Speedway, in a continuation of their pursuit of the Coal Country Championship Series points title.
