Bluegrass Speedway Set for World of Outlaws Late Model Series Invasion May 8

Bardstown, KY-April 29, 2010- There will be no racing on Saturday May 1 as Bluegrass Speedway track promoters David and Anita Ferrell will take this weekend off to ready things for the first-ever visit by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series to Bluegrass Speedway on Saturday May 8 for the 8th Annual My Old Kentucky Home Shootout event.

On Saturday May 8, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will make its first visit to Bluegrass Speedway for the 8th Annual My Old Kentucky Home Shootout, with the A-Main event for the WoO Late Models being 50 lap and paying the winner $10,000 for their efforts from a purse that will be in excess of $50,000. The Saturday May 8 program will feature a full program of practice, time trials, qualifying heats, B-Mains, and the 50 lap, $10,000 to win 8th Annual My Old Kentucky Home Shootout A-Main. Joining the WoO Late Models on May 8 will be the WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman and UMP Street Stocks, while the UMP Modifieds will have the evening off. The WoO Late Models and WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman will time trial at the event, while the UMP Street Stocks will pill draw for heat race assignment. Defending Bluegrass Speedway 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model track champion David Webb of Nicholasville, KY is the defending winner of this event.

Activities for the May 8 My Old Kentucky Home Shootout event for the World of Outlaws Late Models will see the pit area and general admission area open one hour earlier than normal, with the pit area opening at 3:00 p.m., while the general admission area will open at 4:00 p.m. A mandatory drivers meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m. Practice will begin at 6:30 p.m., with time trials at 7:00 p.m., followed green flag race action at or before 8:00 p.m. All times are EDT. Ticket prices on May 8 will $25 for adults, $10 for children ages 6 to 12, and children under age 6 free in the general admission area. A pit pass will cost $35.

The My Old Kentucky Home Shootout was first put on the Bluegrass Speedway schedule back in 2003 and has been contested on seven previous occasions, with seven different winners. Darrell Lanigan of Union, KY would etch his name in the record books as the inaugural event winner in 2003 after a Saturday rainout saw the event contested on Sunday afternoon. Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, IL would grab the checkered flag in the 2004 race, while Rick Corbin of Independence, KY would win the 2005 event that saw NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competitor Tony Stewart score a ninth place finish. Rick Combs of Batavia, OH would grab the 2006 race win, with Steve Francis of Ashland, KY scoring top honors in the 2007 MOKH Shootout. Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN would check into victory lane in the 2008 contest, with defending track champion David Webb of Nicholasville, KY winning the latest installment of the race in 2009.

Bluegrass Speedway is located at 2221 New Haven Road at the intersection of Kentucky Highway 31-E and exit 21 of the Martha Layne Collins (Bluegrass) Parkway. David and Anita Ferrell are the track promoters and present dirt track sports entertainment on Saturday evenings from mid-April through September.
