NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR APRIL 19

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Justin McRee of Cuba, AL in the Century Carriers Trak-Star and Cliff Williams of Star, MS in the Ware Construction Trak-Star each posted two wins in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action over the weekend. Four other drivers posted their second wins of the season in Week 3 competition.

McRee took the win on Friday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL and on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. J-Mac is undefeated in three NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region starts.

Williams was the winner on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, and then followed that up with a victory on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS. Williams has two wins and one second-place finish in three West Region starts.

Wesley Greene of Winona, MS, Chris Wilson of Crossville, TN, Matthew Turner of Dawsonville, GA, and Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL all captured their second wins of the season over the weekend.

Greene drove the Transport Service Center Trak-Star to his second straight victory in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action on Saturday night at Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS. Wilson drove the Dale’s Auto Sales GRT to his second straight NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region win on Saturday night at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN.

Turner posted his second NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region win of the season on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL driving the Turner Excavating DWB, and Stephens drove the Bennett Logging Rocket to his second East Region win of the season on Saturday night at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA.

There were three first-time winners in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region, and one first-time winner in the West Region during Week 3 competition. Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL drove the Charco, Inc. TNT to victory on Saturday night East Region action at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL.

Other first-time East Region winners on Saturday night were Tim Staples of Pell City, AL in the Family Nissan Rocket at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Josh Taylor of Birmingham, AL in the State Farm Insurance GRT at Shelby County Speedway in Wilsonville, AL.

“Dr. Dirt” Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS was the winner on Saturday night in the West Region season opener at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the TJC Mortgage Mastersbilt. Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS did not report their results, nor post them on their web site.

The defending and three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS continues the lead the West Region standings with 277 points based on one win, four top five finishes, and six top ten finishes in six starts. Jamey Smith of Lumberton, MS is in the second spot with 215 points based on one top five and four top tens in five starts.

McRee is in the third spot in the West Region standings with 200 points in three starts, and Williams is in the fourth spot with 199 points in three starts. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS holds down the fifth spot in the West Region standings with 193 points after driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT to three top five finishes in three starts.

Shay Knight of Ethelsville, MS is sixth in the West Region standings with 169 points after driving the Dunn’s Autos Mastersbilt to two top fives in three starts, and Stokes is seventh with 149 points after one win, and a second-place finish in two starts.

The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS is tied with Jay Burchfield of Columbus, MS for the eighth spot in the West Region standings with 146 points apiece. McDuffie has one win and three top five finishes in three starts driving the H.E. Mosley, Inc. Trak-Star, and Burchfield has two top five finishes in two starts driving the Burchfield’s Body Shop Mastersbilt.

McDuffie and his wife Lisa had a big win off the track, as they welcomed a new daughter, Jimi Grace McDuffie, to the world on Thursday.

Alan Netherland of Hattiesburg, MS and “Chargin” Charlie Henderson of Cottondale, AL are tied for the tenth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 140 points apiece. Netherland has two top fives and three top tens in three starts, and Henderson has one top five and two top tens in two starts driving the Century Carriers Mastersbilt.

A shout out to NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region driver Donnie Moore, who finished third on Friday night at North Alabama Speedway and donated his winnings to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL traded his race car for a white stretched limousine, his firesuit for a white tuxedo, his crew chief for his girlfriend, and went to his high school prom on Friday night. The 16-year-old returned to racing action on Saturday night and turned in his fifth straight top five finish at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL to stay on top of the East Region standings.

Edge has 224 points with one win, and five top five finishes in five starts in the Edge’s Gas Mastersbilt. Turner climbed into the second spot with 188 points after two wins and a third-place finish in three NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region starts. Wilson is third with 149 points after two wins and a second-place finish in three starts.

Stephens is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 148 points with two wins and three top five finishes in three starts. Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL and Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL are tied for the fifth spot in the East Region standings with 144 points apiece.

Gauldin has one win, two top fives, and three top tens in three starts driving the D&K Truck Service GRT, and Maher has three top five finishes in three starts driving the United Bank GRT. David Odom of Century, FL and Huss are tied for the seventh spot in the East Region standings with 142 points apiece. Odom has three top fives in three starts, and Huss has a win, two top fives, and three top tens in three starts.

There is a three-way tied for the ninth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings at 141 points among Hunter Best of Friendsville, TN, the 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Champion Adam Martin of Talladega, AL, and Justin Summers of Greenback, TN.

Best has three top fives in three starts driving the Goddard Performance Warrior, Martin has three top fives in three starts driving the Martin Racing Barry Wright, and Summers has two top fives, and three top tens in three starts driving the Summers Motorsports TNT.
