FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 12, 2013 _______________________________________
Davmar Air Steps Up Support of VRA Hobby Stocks For the first time in over ten years, Hobby Stocks returned to the Ventura Raceway and the racing has exceeded expectations. Door to door, bumper to bumper, beating and banging that is well known from the Hobby Stock division has been common place when the division takes to the red clay of Ventura. Names well known to Ventura like Curtis, Brown, and Dinger have made the division their home as well as a new generation of racers such as Heurung, Stephens, and Garvin. Heurung is a name that goes hand in hand with the history of Stock Car racing at Ventura. Wayne Heurung and his brother were competitors in the original VRA Street Stock division in the 90s. Now Wayne’s son, David, has taken the family position as driver and he currently sits second in points.
Heurung and his company Davmar Air Compressors are stepping up their support of the division in an attempt to invite out of town competitors to the Ventura Raceway. Davmar Air Compressors is offering $50 tow money to the first ten drivers with a VRA-legal Hobby Stock that currently competes at Bakersfield Speedway, Santa Maria Speedway, or a member of any other speedway in California.
With Gary Curtis’ absence on September 7th, Scott Dinger took the opportunity to extend his points lead to a comfortable 265 points over new second place, David Heurung. Heurung also took his first career win on the 7th. The Hobby Stocks have two races left in the month of September on the 14th and the 21st. The tow money is only available to the first ten drivers, who choose to compete between both race nights.
