Gardner back on top in Ventura Midgets

OXNARD, CA - Saturday night September 7, at Ventura Raceway was another night of exciting racing. Despite a smaller than normal car count, the racing was top notch in four adult classes and three kids classes.

VRA Midget action headlined the night with eleven midgets signed in to compete. Ronnie Gardner made it clear once again that he was at the top of his game by winning heat one and then gong on to take the 30 lap feature over Rick Hendrix, Kyle Smith, Jake Swanson and Josh Lakatos. Gardner took the lead from early race leader Kyle Smith on lap 4 and was never passed until the checkered flag flew. Also taking a heat race win was Bobbie Michonowicz. Gardner leads Jake Swanson by 50 points after eight races in the season point race.

In VRA Senior Sprint point leader Clif Warren continued his undefeated season with his ninth win in a row Saturday night. He has been unbeatable all season as he sets a new VRA record with each win. He also took the win in their one heat race. Wally Pankratz took the early lead but his engine gave out and Warren took the lead for good and went on to take the win over Steve Brown, Chris Meredith, Wally Pankratz and Dave Marini. After 9 races Warren leads Chris Meredith by 305 points.

VRA Hobby Stocks were back in action and a new winner was on the podium for the second race in a row. Saturday night is was David Heurung taking the 20 lap feature over point leader Scott Dinger, James Brown, Tom Stephens Jr., and Ernie Malone. Scott Dinger took their one heat race and continues to lead in the season long point race by 265 points over David Heurung after eleven races

Sport Compact action saw Zack Peterson get back to his winning ways with a 20 lap win over James Adler, Andrew Greiman, Mira Cook and Bruce Fink. Peterson also took the win in their one heat race. He holds a 535 point lead in the season point race over James Adler as he goes for a second championship in a row.

In kids’ action, J D Brown took another heat race and feature win over Will Mimms and first time racer Sandy Brown in Supercharger competition. In Pistons Class racing Zack Chavez took the win over Garrett Egan, Dylan Neal and Brandon Velasquez. Garrett Egan took their heat race win. In Junior Midgets, Nick Velasquez took another win in their 15 lap feature over Mike Long. Mike long took the heat race win.

Racing continues in the 2013 season next Saturday September 24 with a full program of racing featuring VRA Midgets, Hobby Stocks, Focus Midgets, Mod Lites, Go Karts, Quads and our kids classes.
