RUSH HOUR AT VENTURA RACEWAY

VENTURA, CA (April 20) - Ventura Raceway's 2013 Flat Track Motorcycle season got off to a fast start Saturday April 20, with a full program of exciting flat track, road course and motocross racing. With 125 riders signed into the pits the fans in attendance were in for some outstanding flat track racing. Eighteen (18) classes ranging from kids 5 and up on bikes, to vintage and modern flat track and oval races for bikes and quads, all the way to open professional racers going for a first place prize of $1,200. Racing was fast and furious from the first to last event.

Racing in the kids bike divisions saw Payton Marks take the kids 65 cc and under win. In the kids 110cc and under class the win went to Noah Bush.

In the adult classes for amateur riders wins went to Dustin Mackay took the road course race win. Patrick O'Conner took the win in Pit Bike Oval over Dustin Mackay. In 500 cc Vintage racing the win went to Tom Horton over Jim Lundgren. 750 cc vintage racing saw Tom Horton win over Dylan Morin. The Hooligan Derby class was won by Louie Zuvic over Bobby Hunt. 250 cc Motorcross Flat Track went to James Davis over Christian Copley. The 450cc Motocross Flat Track win went to James Davis over Trent Morley. For the 45 and older racers a Vintage Vet Class was run with the win going to Steve Hill over John Lundgren. 250 Motocross/TT bikes ran the infield jump track with the win going to Tucker Hicks over Aaron Anderson. 450 TT/Motocross racing saw the win go to Aaron Anderson over Tom Hendricks. Amateur Modern racing went to Casey Cahoon over Trent Morley.

In Quad racing the Quad Moto 16 and over Open went to Cody Roberts over Jake Morton. The Flat Track Quad win went to Danny Elderbaum over Michael Zavala. In the Sportsman Division the win went to Robert Peterson over Carson Puryear.

Twelve professional riders took the green flag in their 20 lap main event going for the winner’s check of $1,200. Mike Rush took the 20 lap feature over Kayl Kolkman, Jethro Halbert, Dylan Morin, Shayna Texter, Nick Armstrong, David Bush, Jon Nunes, Robert Bush, Casey Cahoon, Larry Earhart and Briar Bauman. These racers thrilled the crowd with close hard fought racing from the first lap until the finish on lap 20. Mike Rush and Kayl Kolkman each took an eight lap Barnett Clutches heat win.

The Motorcycle and Quad racers will return for the second race in the 2013 series on Saturday May 25. Next Saturday night, the VRA Midgets are back along with Senior Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Sport Compacts, and Go-Karts.
