i just purchased a 24 volt impact...charger...2 ni-cd rechargeable battery...300 ft lb...i purchased this CMT impact on ebay...under $130.00...i believe that this impact is the same impact that we paid like 235 bucks for and lasted for about 5 yrs...and it came with only one battery...i would like to do 2 things here...
1...i would like to here from people that have good and bad issues with impacts that they have purchased...brand name...battery voltage...how many batteries...cost...
2...if your looking for a good impact...look at this one...xtgear is the company that i bought it from...happy holidays...

I bought one at Harbor Freight, it works fine, problem is the batteries won't last for crap. I went to the track with three bateries and still wouldn't last the night.  19.2 volts.   A friend of mine bought one from AutoZone for around a hundred bucks, its lasted fairly well for one yr, but is getting week now. 24 volt .

They also last longer if you don't run over them in the pits!

Got a GreatNeck 24 volt NiCad with 2 batteries and the charger on sale at Pep Boys for $68 about 4 years ago and it's still working well.  Don't know the torque rating  but it does the job and the batteries are still good.

I have two.  Longacre and Mac.  The mac was around 400 and the battery only lasted a year.  It won't hold a charge for long.  Longacre came with two batteries one died after 2 years the other lasted for 4 so far.

I went through 2 of these before settling on the 3rd (lots of RMAing from Jegs). Now they have an even newer model that looks a lot like the Longacre one, it might be worth checking out. The problem isn't the gun, it's the batteries. They simply do not last. The 2 I sent back lasted about a month. The 3rd one lasted a year. I gave it to my uncle for his 4-Banger and it seems to be still working.

I bought the Longacre one this year and it has been a dream. It came with 2 batteries and some sockets. It holds a charge for a long time and has plenty of torque.

The Longacre battery fit inside the Jegs gun and works well, problem is the battery doesn't click and stay.

Actually it's only as long as you run out of air.  That's the same as a battery going dead.

DeWalt XRP with Lithium Ion 18v, batteries are much stronger and lighter than Ni-Cad

I finally broke a battery contact in the handle after 6 yrs of use, and Lowes had the impact only for $149

I used to replace the Ni-Cad's about every 3yrs, but the Lithium batteries, are going into their 2nd year
