What are the rules going to be in 2011? Are Quik Change Rear Ends, Roller Cams and or Aluminum Heads Ok?

Did you mean to post this under Petaluma, RoyBoy54? I figured Ocean was a mistake since they are IMCA.

Yeah I also heard talk Ocean was kicking the idea around about not being IMCA. Maybe running IMCA based rules for the most part.. But maybe a dif twist on engine claims. Also Merced/Antioch folks throwing UMP around for all... I'm sure their all kicking around tons of ideas.

Thanks for clearing that up Rude Dog. I have only run Watsonville a couple times. but, I was hoping to run more this year and would like to know what changes to make to my car that apply to be legal at all the tracks I run!

10 - 15 YEARS AGO YOU COULD SHOW UP AT ANY TRACK IN CALIFORNIA AND KNOW THE RULES WOULD BE THE SAME. THEY EVEN HAD A 7 RACE SERIES AT THE END OF THE YEAR THAT RAN ON ASPHALT AND DIRT SAME RULES SAME CARS!
I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT PROMOTORS WANT AND OR NEED TO DO THEIR OWN THING HOWEVER, I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A MEETING BETWEEN ALL TRACKS IN CALIFORNIA AND COME TO AN AGREEMENT AS TO WHAT RULES THEY WANT TO ADOPT.
I REALLY FEEL THAT HAVING SO MANY DIFFERENT RULES IS THE REASON FOR THE DROP IN CAR COUNTS. EVERY TIME THE TIRES CHANGE OR YOU NEED TO BUILD A MOTOR TO BE COMPETITIVE AT A TRACK JUST RESULTS IN CAR OWNER HAVING TO SPEND UNNECCESSARY MONEY AND EVENTUALLY RUNNING OUT!
PEOPLE IN THE STANDS WOULD BENNEFIT MORE BY PAYING TO SEE MORE CARS RUNNING ON A GIVIN NIGHT.
AS FOR THE RULES I LIKE THE NEW 7800 CHIP RULE IMCA CAME OUT WITH. BUT THAT MECHANICAL CAM NO ALUMINUM HEAD RULE WON'T COMPETE WELL AT CALISTOGA, ANTIOCH, PETALUMA OR MERCED AND SOME GUYS ARE EVEN CHANGING THEIR REAR ENDS FOR CERTAIN SHOWS (QUIK CHANGE AND 9 INCH).
WHATS NEXT ARE THEY GOING TO ALLOW FRONT FENDERS! UMP MODIFIED RULES ARE BASICALLY THE SAME AS THEIR LATE MODEL RULES WITH THE CHASSIS BEING THE ONLY ACCEPTION!
IN THE LAST 15 YEARS THE PROMOTORS HAVE PROVED YOU CANT TRAP THE CARS AT ONE TRACK BY MAKING THE RULES SPECIFIC TO ONE TRACK.

They cant take the claim away, it was fun watching Keldsen tring to stay on the lead lap and Nott running side by side with him not wanting to put him a lap down yet getting pressure from second place.

To me the claim rule is a joke. I have yet to see a single engine be claimed at any race that I have been to. SMS, Bako, Hanford & Ventura. Sorry, have not seen a claim yet. I hear all the time guys saying "I will claim this guy or that guy", but they never do. So what's the point? Excuse for keeping the engine cost down? You know it doesn't.

Blu, I lap Richard with the same caution I use to lap you. Racing for a championship you need to use your head. (Funny the things that come from some ones mouth that crashed a whole bunch of cars in a heat race at Vegas) I was broke and in the pits the first night he Claimed, the second night I was racing for the win and got ran in the fence. No wonder you can not win a race as you clearly have bad vision.

Mike just open up pie hole and insert foot. Only talk about stuff you know about, which isn't much. You wouldn't know anything about running for a championship, let alone be able to sniff a win. Why would you open your mouth about stuff you have no clue about. Lame. Just worry about running in the back of the mains and be the rolling spead bump that you are. Wow ppl never seem to stop amazing me.

First let me apologize to Kenny Nott because I don't know that thats what he was actually doing, but it was fun to watch. Thank you Kenny for lapping with caution and if you think my mishap at LV allows you to feel that much better then go ahead use it I would expect no less from a Champion! I only wish I could be as great a driver as you are but as you pointed out my bad eye sight and what runs down your leg.
Good luck to team Nott in 2011

Mike,
I know better that is why I am world champion mud scrapper. I know where my place is, un-like some. But I appreciate the advice, you might want to take some of it yourself.

can rememeber when the mods started before all of you did it and the claim was 325.. no trade and you had to give the tow truck 25 bucks of it,, that hurt to drive six hours to a race to come home with a hole under the hood and it wasn`t because a rod was missing, all 8 rods were missing with the parts hooked to it,,that happened 3 times to me,, but it was very good racing also.. bucks and motors didnt win races driving and handling did... see we started the modified class.. John Soares SR. started it. I made the 1st california chassis and it was taken to Reno promotors work shop for IMCA.. I liked the class allot cause you would make fast engines out of old parts and win, was fun then,, now its all about money under the hood... But i`m still here I still win and I love the cars and love watching all the new young guns coming up through it.. So just wish all tracks either followed IMCA rules or UMP rules and not have a differant rule for every track.. I also have a way the claim would work to keep crazy motors out of the game,, but for it to work all track would have to follow it.... So now that said and done and noughting will change.. lets go racing !!!!!
