$2,000.00 TO WIN DEMOLITION DERBY, LATE MODELS, FACTORY STOCKS AND DWARF CARS SATURDAY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!

(JUNE 1, 2010, PERRIS, CA) Perris Auto Speedway will legalize crashing this Saturday, June 5th, when it hosts round one of the Frazee Paint Outlaw Iron Man Demolition Derby. Joining the “Crash Em’ & Smash Em’” contingent will be the Late Models, Pick-A-Part Factory Stocks and the CDCRA Dwarf Cars. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM and the first race will be at 5:30.

Saturday’s Demolition Derby will have an interesting twist. “These cars are built like tanks,” promoter Don Kazarian said with a devilish smile. “Most of the time when you go to a Demolition Derby, there are a lot of rules. One of them being that you cannot use the same car in another derby. Once that derby is over, the cars are done and hauled off to the scrap yard. Our event will be very different as the drivers in the Outlaw Iron Man derbies can use their cars over and over again. They are reinforced tanks! It is a run “whatcha’ brung’” event. Bottom line, the only rules are the safety rules. While the safety rules are stringent, everything else is wide open.”

Over the years cars from the 1970s (when they were big bruisers and the choice of derby drivers) have gotten harder to find due to their value. Also, last year’s government sanctioned “Cash for Clunkers” policy took many more out of circulation. Therefore, allowing drivers to reinforce their cars and use them over and over again will help preserve the sport. Organizers are expecting around 25 cars for this Saturday’s derby.

Back on the half-mile oval on Saturday, the Late Models will be making their fourth appearance of 2010. Former Ascot NASCAR Figure 8 champion Mike Kirby of Lomita is the favorite as he has won two of the first three Late Model races in 2010.

Rounding out Saturday’s program will be the Pick-A-Part Factory Stocks and the CDCRA Dwarf Cars. Anaheim’s Tim Pyle leads Riverside’s Steven “Bam Bam” Fangmeyer by two points in the Factory Stock championship point standings heading into Saturday’s race. The CDCRA Dwarf Cars will be making up their rained off race from March 6th.
