I look at that Clay on that car and think.... Ah yeah, I remember SCRAPING MOD off my Dad's Car and off Danny's car back in the late 70's / Early 80's like that... and that's why we used a sprayer with (I think it was Diesel and Trans Fluid) on the bodies, and under the fenders...the wipe down the bodies so the Clay/Mud would just basically FALL OFF...

I think as long as the track is graded and they dont change how much water they put on the track too drastically then the track should be fine.
Breshears said that on friday he didnt get a chance to grade the track so that might be why is was so dry and packed. That night after we got off the track Breshears was on the track grading it.
I am no expert but I think that as long as the prep stays somewhat consistant then the track would be consistant.
By the way, dad talked with Tarlton yesterday and he loved the track both nights..lol

I find that baby oil works better and it cheap Buy it buy the case at the dollar store. LOL
WD by the gallon from Harbor Freight. Put into my own sprayer. Baby oil or ATF works well too, just thicker.

dry slick tracks are harder on your engines than heavy tracks? Those cars probably weighed 3300 when it was all over. I'd take a dry track to that any day. When a tracks like that you don't even need a good car setup.
I agree.
I like baby oil too by the way. Cheap and works good.

HIGH
12's low 13's is what i meant to say. We caught him with a 12.8 when he had a good run from my son's phone stop watch. I don't know how fast Murphy was. I think he was held up by the second place car. I think that was the 15 yr old? Kid was good.
ck was up next to the announcers booth with a stopwatch during the main he said they were running in the 13's.

The track never really came in. At the end of the night it was just about ready for heat races. that being said it was a step in the right direction. Now they just need to fine tune it a little and the track will be hooked up again.

I think you guys are missing the point. I raced there both nights. First night the track was awesome. The only drivers that complained were the sprintcar guys. So after friday Tom did what he was asked to do and soaked it. Then saturday it was too wet for the sprintcar guys. So not only did we have to pack it in for them once, we had to do it a second time, still no big deal. But when only 4 out of the 20 sprints there helped us pack it got a little frustrating. Instead of telling the mod guys to suck it up, you need to realize that we went with the flow both nights. It was the winged guys that were being the whiners. One last thing, you guys that think we were scraping 80's and 90's main event mud off our cars are all wrong. I used to scrape that mud too and saturday night's mud after the main was hot lap mud, big difference. Not whining just sharing my point of view.

1) Ronnie Day was not on the grader. He was on the Skip & Drag and all he did was screw up the berm
2) I really thought all of the drivers (Mods and Sprints) were fine. No one really complained to me about the track. I got comments and advise, but no whining. My main concern was the fans getting a show and not so much dead time
3) There has already been about 66 man hours put in the track since monday.
4) Tim & Tom will get it figured out. This new clay is very, very hard to figure out. We mixed some of the old clay in on Monday.
5) Track prep is without a doubt the toughest job at a race track. If a asphalt promoter tells me how hard he has got it, I am going to punch him in the mouth!!!
6) I am tired of everyone that can drive a tractor thinking they can prep a dirt track. THEY HAVE NO CLUE !!!
Thats all. Thanks.

I agree the guys will get it figured out.... they have proven that in the past. the only thing I took from Saturday night is the track took time to bring it in, thats to be expected when a complete water and track prep operation took place in the early morning hours of the same day...
getting all the push trucks out there and burn up some gas helps and edjucate the crowd on what is going on. I heard a little bit of that from the announcers on saturday night.
for most of us as fans it's no big deal. It adds to the anticipation of seeing some great racing later in the evening and seeing which teams will get it figured out.
Some people start yelling and criticizing the track prep with no appreciation of the work and sacrafice that goes into the whole operation..... to me this shows their ignorance or maybe their arrogance...
your at the races with friends and a cold beer... what can be wrong with that?
CK, dont worry! Sprintcar fans are used to sitting around waiting, they are used to "dead time" lol....

Ask the Hawaiians. They had one, H-3, for many YEARS. Finally, they decided to extend it, but a VERY great cost.
