HEY KEARNS!!!!!
Pullin' your hair out yet with the crybaby whiners? (on and off the track) What a joke they are, Give Thorton a call, I bet he thinks it was just right!!!! Robby, now I see why Scott said what he said. You guys don't need race cars, you need baby carriages. Take a pill and get ready for next week.
Duane
PS Hey flag dud, Chets right you need to be high when you do your job. Hmmm, does that sound right?

Chris and I have discussed raising the flagstand, Doug Fort and I have discussed it, Dave Swindell and I have discussed it,
I
am the one that does
NOT
want it raised. I have many reasons for this, but the ones that come to mind first and foremost are:
1) I will be too high (yes Chuane, I got the joke). The drivers have a tough time seeing me now, winged Sprints barely see me as it is. I have to crouch down to be seen, not good.
2) If you did raise the flagstand, that would leave me standing on a small platform with the flags with nowhere to run to. You know that if I am up on a platform, some pesky Sprint Car is going to want to be up there with me and I will have no place to go.
3) If I am on a raised platform, I will be unable to assist in re-aligning cars on a yellow. I do that quite a bit as anybody that goes to SMS can tell you.
4) At least now, I can run out the gate behind me towards the grandstands if a car does decide to "come visit" the flagstand.
Thanks for thinking of me Chuane (see, that covers both Duane and Chet), but I am perfectly happy with the Flagstand exactly where it is at.

Just curious if I got this right. Fridays track was dry and slick, some liked it , the winged dune buggys did not. Come Saturday the sprinters took matters into their own hands kinda and Ronnie Day jumped on the grader and worked on the track as opposed to the regular SMS crew? Is this close? Saturdays track was super moist and dust free, some did not like it (Mr. Sawyer for sure, that's his right) and some liked it a lot. Is this correct?
It seems like the GSC flexed some muscle or is that way off the mark? Ain't judgin' the deal just curious.
Was the crowd good? I would think so.

crowd was a typical GSC crowd, "whered all these d@mned people come from???!!!". lol friday night was also a pretty good crowd conisdering this was the first time SMS raced on a friday night in 5 years. saturday night if you got there after 6 you had to park half a mile away
track was drier than bako friday night, saturday night was heavier than petaluma.

I was wondering the same thing,Mark. If this happened, I am highly disappointed in CK, allowing a non-employee to work on the track. It's disrespectfull at the least.......

No, I belive SMS track crew worked late Friday night til about 2:30 am on Saturday morning re prepping the track.... Thats what the announcer told the crowd...
On Saturday night the track was a wet slick early on and apparently the sprint drivers still were not happy.
It just took a little longer to run the track in.
One of the sprint drivers jumped on the tractor and started fu$#%^ing with the inside berm.... he didn't have much success in my opinion...

But ck is a drivers promater and he does what the driver wants he does not care about anybody else other then the driver. So if you are a big name just cry to ck and he will let you do what ever you want.
Thats not neccessarily true.... CK was in an awkward and difficult situation... I believe he does care about his employees....
If Breshears is upset or P--- OFF well I can certainly understand that too

I think your wrong about Chris on this one. I don't know what happened "behind the scenes" but it looked like the driver on the grader was just building up the berm on the south end. I got there about 5:30, so he my have been working it earlier too? Chris has an obligation to put on a "show" for the race fans. No show, no dough. I'm sure he has to walk a fine line between the racers and employees and you can't please everyone. But he has to do whatever it takes to put put on a show and if that ruffle feathers, so be it. We as race fans have seen, SMS be good and bad and everything in between, and this includes when Doug was promoting. Some of his tracks on Sat night with the Woo, were terrible dry slick and dusty. Other times wicked fast. That's the nature of two night shows. This Sat. night is was greasy early, but came in and Tarlton was doing low 12's in traffic during the main. Smart guy is right. The Modified main was classic. Thorton came on about lap 20 and was on a rail on the top groove. Tim and Tom had one night to prep the track with new clay. The track was still very smooth with the exception of turn three early. Track prep is both science and luck. The luck part comes with outside elements. I think the time and efforts the team at SMS puts in is nothing but phenominal and should be commended.

Sorry...Math skills diminishing.
HIGH
12's low 13's is what i meant to say. We caught him with a 12.8 when he had a good run from my son's phone stop watch. I don't know how fast Murphy was. I think he was held up by the second place car. I think that was the 15 yr old? Kid was good.

I should film track prep or at least film all the people complaining about it.lol I like to see different track conditions every race keeps it exciting and teaches drivers and crews how to race different tracks. With dirt it will never be the same track. It would be boring if it was always the same and one person had it figured out. I also think if a racer wants the same every night they might want to race asphalt. Just my oppinion.
You are so right, I wish some of the drivers could understand what you just wrote, but some of them just don't get it... [/quote]

dry slick tracks are harder on your engines than heavy tracks? Those cars probably weighed 3300 when it was all over. I'd take a dry track to that any day. When a tracks like that you don't even need a good car setup.
