We are quite bummed that the next kart race has been cancelled. My 5 year old is hooked and wants more. Does anybody know if someone has a practice track to get laps in the off season or another place he can race?

The key is NEAR Santa Maria.  I guess the closest to Santa Maria would be Chowchilla, who run karts indoors for all kinds of classes in addition to racing flat track motorcycles.  Schedule here.

Red Bluff is also the home of Outlaw Karts, and you owe it to yourself to see these guys live and in person at least once to see the best in the business do what they do.  You might also see a King of California (Sean Becker), up and coming Sprint Car ace (Kyle Larson), and any other Sprint Car upstart staying sharp in the offseason there.  Schedule is here.  In addition, the QRC Headquarters is about 1/2 mile away from the races there, so you can go to the actual QRC store to get parts, see the latest, etc. as opposed to ordering stuff online or getting it from the parts truck.
