The 1st Annual Toste Grading & Paving Mini Stock Nationals, Papich Construction IMCA Modifieds, and a Powder Puff event for MMI Factory Stocks will be on the program Saturday night for the season finale at Santa Maria Speedway.
After a long, hard fought, championship season, the Modifieds will get to relax and race Saturday night with no points at stake. Congratulations to the top-five point getters for 2009: champion Chad Weber, Arroyo Grande; second place Doug Thornton, Santa Maria; third place and "Rookie of the Year" Tony Toste, Arroyo Grande; fourth place Danny Lauer, Santa Maria; and, fifth place Daylan Coffey, Santa Maria.
Top-five in the Mini Stocks, going into tonight's Nationals, are: three-time champion Tom Grzincic, San Luis Obispo; second place Jeremy Heroux, Nipomo; third place and "Rookie of the Year" Kurt Larsen, Nipomo; fourth place Robby Cervantes, Arroyo Grande; and, fifth place Dustin Ensign, Nipomo.
Fourteen cars showed up for the Mini Stock Powder Puff two weeks ago, hopefully the Factory Stock drivers will be just as anxious to put some of their ladies on the track.
Gates for the final event of 2009 will open at 4:00 p.m., with racing at 6:00 p.m. Admission prices will be: $14.00 for adults, $12.00 for seniors & military and their spouses, $5.00 for children 6 to 12, with kids five and under free. Parking and camping is always free. SMS is located 1/4-mile north of the 101/166 interchange on Hutton Road.
