West Coast Super Late Model Stocks, East vs. West Super Street Stocks, MMI Factory Stocks and Mini Dwarfs for kids ages 5 to 13, will all be at Santa Maria Speedway this Sunday of Labor Day Weekend for the 16th Annual Danny Simkins Memorial.

West Coast Super Late Model Shootout points as-well-as local Late Model points are on the line tonight. Mike Kirby, of Torrance, leads the Shootout standings and runs second to Steve Drake, of San Luis Obispo, in the local rankings. Bakersfield's Brad Pounds runs second to Kirby in the Shootout, only 6 points behind. Mike Johnson, of Lompoc, is 56 points behind in third, followed by Rob Sanders, of Bakersfield, who trails by 70, and Ron Bartels, of El Segundo, who is off the pace by 87.

In the local standings, Kirby is 14 points in back of Drake and third place Sanders trails by 49. Nick Bartels, of El Segundo, is 60 markers out of first and Bill Bartels is 89 points out of the lead in fifth.

Arroyo Grande's Dale Sylvester is 35 points in front of Atascadero's Mike Leland and 42 ahead of Santa Maria's Michael Frazier in the battle for the Factory Stock title. Fourth place Kevin Linson, of Arroyo Grande, is 48 points in arrears and Lompoc's Brandon Brickey, Sr. has a deficit of 61 points.

Santa Maria's Tim Randolph and Bakersfield's Lonnie Welch continue to fight it out for the East vs. West Super Street championship and tonight's 68 lap feature event will be a major test in their battle.

Mini Dwarfs will race the "mini oval" within the 1/3-mile oval in two divisions. Junior Mini Dwarfs for children 5 to 8, and Senior Mini Dwarfs for kids 9 to 13.

Gates will open at 4:00 p.m. with qualifying at 5:00 p.m. and racing at 6:00 p.m. Ticket prices for this special Sunday show will be: $16.00 for adults, $14.00 for seniors & military and their spouses, $5.00 for youngsters 6 to 12, with kids five and under free. Parking and camping is always free. Camp for the weekend and watch Dirt Karts run  on Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., with no charge to spectators. The Speedway is located 1/4-mile north of the 101/166 interchange on Hutton Road.
