Santa Maria, CA - July 19, 2008...Western AllStars Super Dirt Late Models brought 30 cars and drivers to Santa Maria Speedway Saturday night for their second run of the season on the third-mile oval. Also on the schedule were D&S Automotive IMCA Modifieds and Factory Stocks.

Andy Obertello, of Hollister, started the evening by setting fast time of 14.322 seconds in Western AllStars qualifying. In the 30-lap "A" main event, however, it was Mike Johnson, of Lompoc, with a charge from his ninth starting position to take the lead from Nick Bartels, of El Segundo, on lap 11 and go on to victory. Bobby Hogge IV, of Salinas, battled Johnson for much of the run but had to settle for second. Third went to Arroyo Grande's Devin Crockett, followed by Bakersfield's John Lowrey and Castroville's A.J. Kirkpatrick. Jeffrey Priddy, of Salinas, won the 12-lap "B" main event and 8-lap heat race wins went to Kirkpatrick, Bartels, Merced's Chris Shannon, and Lompoc's Chet Buckley.

Kyle Camperud, of Watsonville, scored his first career victory in the 25-lap IMCA Modified feature event. Point leader Kenny Kirkpatrick, of Nipomo, suffered a hit in his championship run when he was taken out of the feature in a four car incident on lap one. Danny Lauer moved into the point lead with a second place finish in front of fellow Santa Maria driver Jake Jones. Larry Hood, of Bakersfield, and Josh Vogt, of Santa Maria, were fourth and fifth. Camperud, Jones, and Santa Maria's Doug Thornton scored 8-lap heat race victories.

The 20-lap Factory Stock main event found Michael Frazier in victory circle ahead of two more Santa Maria drivers, point leader Kirk Morgan and Glen Sparks. It was the first feature victory of 2008 for Frazier. Matt Marchiando, of Goleta, and Tim Bennett, of Santa Maria, filled out the top-five. Atascadero's Charlie Scovell and Santa Maria's Dale Sylvester were 8-lap heat race winners.
