Hey guys,
Most, if not all of you know me. My name is Clay, I ran a Modified at tracks up and down the state as well as Arizona. I'm just letting everyone know ahead of time to give a heads up...
I am one of about 40 Modified drivers out of over 4,000 Modified drivers selected to be on the 2007 IMCA All Star Invitational ballot sponsored by Fast Shafts by Axel Exchange of Des Moines, IA.
The way the voting works...
The ballot, come voting time will be near or around 50-55 as it was last year. Each ballot that is cast, you will select 10 drivers off that ballot, the top 10 drivers named on the most ballots will make up the 10 car field for the special event during the SuperNationals week in Boone, IA. 10 cars, $1,000 to win, the 10 starters get a trophy comemorating the prestige that goes along with being a starter in this event, along with a customized IMCA All Star Invitational rear filler panel with your last name on it that you run during the race.
I am hoping to be named on enough ballots to break my way into the lucky 10 drivers that will start this event. This past IMCA SuperNationals, a good friend, Dan Fitzgerald, multiple time IMCA Champion, headed the 2006 IMCA All Star Invitational ballot, being named on 5,392 ballots. I hope to be named on enough ballots to not only start this prestigous race, but also cerpass Dan's large number of votes and head the ballot for '07.
In '05, Harris pilot, Jay Noteboom of Hinton, IA started 10th and won this event. In '06, BMS hot shoe, Joren Boyce of Minot, ND took the crown to be the 3rd different winner in the races 3 year history, '07 will hold the 4th Annual All Star Invitational.
I raced in Boone this year, and with help from all of the great people in the racing community, I will travel back to the SuperNationals and race there in not only the Modified SuperNationals, but the 4th Annual All Star Invitational Presented by Fast Shafts by Axel Exchange. The incentive for my return to Boone will depend on if I am voted into this race or not. Funding is tight, and being voted int his race will ensure my trip. If voted in I WILL race next year in Boone, if not, we have decided we do not have the funding to support the trip. Why will it change if voted in? Well, for me, as for most IMCA Modified drivers, this is one of those once, and if your lucky, twice in a carrer oppotunities, and that will entice my family, as well as my sponsors to get us to Boone in '07. The trip costs a lot of money, but it is worth every penny.
