Title: Ventura Raceway - 8/1 Results - Kruser Tops Ventura County Fair Post by LMR on 08/02/13 at 2:18am Ventura Raceway August 1, 2013 _______________________________________ Kruser Tops Ventura County Fair by Cliff Morgan OXNARD, CA - The second night of the Ventura County Fair Motorsports events saw an exciting variety of open wheel, stock car racing and demolition derby competition.  The races took place in front of a sold out arena. The VRA Midgets headlined the Thursday night program with a field of ten midgets in attendance.  The racing proved to be another exciting night of open wheel racing as the midgets sped around the 1/5 mile oval to the delight of the full house at Ventura Raceway.  There were two heat races run with wins going to   Bruce Douglass in the Super Shox heat one and Bobby Michnowicz in the Schroeder Racing Products heat two.  The 30 lap Battle at the Beach main event was a fast, exciting race that saw Randi Pankratz lead lap 1-16 before Cory Kruseman led laps 17-30 to take his second win in a row in VRA Midget action.  Jake Swanson gave Kruseman all he could handle but just was not able to make the pass for the lead and finished second. Following Kruseman to the line were Jake Swanson, Randi Pankratz, Kyle Smith and Bruce Douglass.  Jake Swanson's strong run allowed him to take the season long point lead as Ronnie Gardner was not in attendance for this event. VRA Hobby Stocks were in attendance with eleven cars ready to take the green flag.  Gary Curtis take the first heat race and Ernie Malone took the second heat race.  The 20 lap feature saw Gary Curtis take the lead from Sam Garvin on lap 6 and go on to take the 20 lap feature win.  Following him to the line were Scott Dinger, Tom Stevens Jr., Ernie Malone, and David Heurung..  After nine races in 2013, Scott Dinger leads Gary Curtis by 185 points.  This new class has proven a fan favorite so far in 2013. VRA Dwarf Cars raced in two classes on Thursday August 1. In Seniors, the 20 lap feature went to Randy Gordon over George Calvo, Mike Neal, Lee Majors and Keith Vondersaar.  Brent Stevens took their one heat race. In the Pros, the 20 lap feature went to Kevin Calvo, followed by Eric Moore, Johnny Conley, Hannah Mayhew and Randy Gordon.  Their three heat races went to Kevin Calvo in heat one, Jason Horton in heat two and Johnny Conley in heat three. The seven car Demolition Derby was won by Milton Edwards over Joshua Holley, Darren Loe, Robert Dekman and Travis Riley. Ventura Raceway now takes the next three weeks off as the Fair continues its run. We will return to action on Saturday night August 24 with VRA Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Sport Compacts, Mod Lites and Go Karts. VRA Midgets Race #7 08/01/2013 Main Event Results: 1.
