I really hope that Ruben and the ALL NEW SMS will focus a lot more on re-building LOCAL Race Classes with more LOCAL Racers.

So often it seems track promoters get caught up with bringing in the travelling guys at the cost of giving up on the locals --- then when those guys STOP travelling, you have no LOCAL Racers or race classes.

The SMS "Hobby Stock" and "Mini Stock" divisions put on great racing, and still draw a lot of locals - The Super Street or what ever that class chooses to be called these days CAN put on great races, but they seem to always think they should be paid like a PRO Racing Division and get a little too demanding - The Super Late Models should only run 2-3 times a year with them being promoted as a SPECIAL EVENT much as the old "OPEN COMP" shows were so many years ago. A class like the super streets should BE the premier weekly "Late Model" equivilant class. Same goes with a LOCAL "Sprint" or Open Wheel class of some sort -

Bring the racing home - and encourage MORE Locals to race!

One of our main goals is to focus on the "Home Town Racers". That is why we increased the amount of races they have. There is a need to have the traveling "Big name" divisions but in the same sense I paired them with our "Home Town Racers". I want the Hobbies, minis, Super Stocks to race in front of big crowds. Thank you......

Good idea Ruben. The local racers are the ones that consistently out the butts in the stands. Friends, families and even the enemies of the local guys are a track's bread and butter. Big shows with a lot of out of area racers are great for the motels, gas stations and restaurants but the loyal local fans are the ones that will be there every week if they like what they are seeing on the track. Hope your season is very successful.
