Title: Mini Dwarf Rules?
Post by MARSHALLFL on 01/22/13 at 9:35am

With the season close by, does anyone know if there are going to be any rule changes to the Mini Dwarf Class?  There was some talk at the end of the season, has anything changed?  Thanks

I know Bakersfield Speedway is talking about changing something to prevent the flips as much and with the motors. Normally Santa Maria & Bakersfield go off the same rules.  Right now everyone is waiting for the rules with only 52 days till first race at Bakersfield.

Would be nice to know soon!!

I have heard a few things they might do but no confirmation.

Wow, now that some engine rules.  Glad to see, some serious thought went into the rules.  Hopefully all other tracks will incorporate the same rules

Those are the stupidest rules. There are more engine rules in the mini dwarf class than any of the big cars. It is rediculous to have rules you can't/won't tech. Those rules aren't going to change anything because they wont be teched. Should have just went with a cheap motor and a swap rule.

I give Scott credit for trying to fix the MD division.

I was shocked on the engine rules because the predator engine swap ended everything and made the tech way less needed.  There are things you can't police in those engines like "Slightly" changing radiuses in the heads and machining down the bearings in the motor to free them up. Not only that but you have everyone (including myself) running oil additives that don't burn.  It was such a slam dunk and 1/5 the cost for new motors.  In the end a bone stock motor off the shelf isn't going to compete.

I hope the seats clear with the new tire specs on rear.  I think the karts are going to need quite bit of fab work to raise up the rears.

Rumor has it IMCA is taking over the MD class. Rules will be out at the drivers meeting@ the first race.

I am not sure what the rules were before and what has changed a whole lot...

I know my sons car is high enough and the engine is stock. I have now idea or don't know much on the engines and how to check them.  I guess we will just race and see what happens!  ::)

I am kind of confused about the tire rule and have no idea about the different sizes. Guess I will have to look at them. :D

Jacky, you will need new hubs on the back as well as new wheels and tires.  You may have to cut the mounts off and lower them to raise the back of the car up some.  You will also need a new gear sprocket.

I have no idea what I have. I assume they are stock. But if I am ever asked to tear one down I'll say "hell no." Since I have legal motors that I will refuse to tear down; money is the only thing stopping me from getting the best motor I can and let my kids run them till they get caught. The outcome will be the same, I will refuse to tear down. Maybe a spec class and an unlimited class?

Maybe they should have spec series with open shows.

Jacky your not the only one with this new rule change some of the kids are bigger now and if we have to move the seat up they might not have enough head clearance because these trucks are at 33 inches not 35 like the new rule and its a lot of stuff to
do and  buy in a short period of time

Ok I just focused on the new engine rules when I read them.  I don't have a problem with the engine rules because honestly I believe it needed to be spelled out.  Stock, I as I found out, did not mean straight out of a box from honda and I had to keep asking people what was "acceptable" and few had a straight answer.  From an outside view it looks excessive but there is a whole world of performance go kart engine parts that is available at the click of a button.

Now that I looked at the other rules I do have some questions.  "Frame rails must be higher that bottom of seat"  What does that mean? I read that as the bottom of the seat sits below the frame rails.

The rules say "Maximum height of car body from the lower frame rail is 35”, so I read that the car height can actually be lower because it says maximum not minimum.  Correct?

Because the backend has to be changed this rule won't currently line up with other tracks like Ventura or Santa Maria.  Are the other tracks adopting these rules?  Thanks
