Will we be running SMS track rules or our local track rules?

wow, there went your car count!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!JMO

What car count? Had 20 last year. If guys dont want to come race an "open" show, they can stay home and just come to the $300 to win races. Im cool with that!

I know open shows are tough mid season, but i know i sure used to enjoy them. I guess i could just go with SM/Bako rules and make it a points race!

Just trying to give other tracks, like Victorville guys a chance to come run here.

Then just make it your track rules apply.

I think home track rules should apply! We have 2 or more coming from Chow/Merced.
Great pay out!

Chris,

I really appreciate the "track rules apply" thing.  I have wanted to races at Santa Maria for several years.

I know the rules at VV and Perris are different than SMS but I think the 200 lb weight advantage the SMS and Bako cars get more than makes up for 1" wider tire could have.  Besides everytime a bako or SMS car comes to Perris or VV the locals (me) seem to get a good old fashion butt whoopin.

I am really looking forward to this race.  I will see if I can get any other Perris or VV cars to go but it will most likely end just being me with a couple of friends.

Ocean Speedway does not have a cam rule. Will those cars still be able to race?

I run a 7.48 at VV.  I turn 6800 there and would be afraid to spin it any more than that and if I am correct SMS is a little bigger than bako or VV.

I run a 6.37 at Perris.  I ran the same gear at hanford and it wasn't perfect but okay.  How big is SMS compared to Hanford?

Thanks for the help.

Probably around 7.0 would be best. I've never run there myself but I know some Bako cars have run 7.48, and when the track is greasy it's too low a gear. We are heading over with 3.89's and a 1.82 powerglide.

Well then the 7.48 is definitely out.  I will have to go with the 6.37 unless I can find something better before then.

Thanks for all the info everyone.

One more question...

What time does the racing start?  When do the pits open?  If I get there friday night can I camp in the pits?  Can we have camp fires in the pits?

Guess that is more than one.

Racing usually starts @ 6, pits will open in the morning early, no camping in the pits, but you can camp in the parking lot ( i will be camping) and no fires in the pits, but yes in the parking lot! Hope that answers you 1 question! lol jk!

YES you can Danny. They don't charge to camp but if you plan on getting any rest during the night stay more over towards the track side as CWF usally don't turn in till around 6am the next morning.

Bryant they were camping in the pits and fires last year in the pits
