Hello, for you that don't know me I am Jacky Wood and I race at the Bakersfield Speedway. For the people from Bakersfield you have probably heard it or seen it on the news and in the paper... Got to love the Media!!

We need lots of prayer for my girlfriends baby. His name is Bryce he is 11 months old and was at my house on Tuesday and her older son had left the back door open and Bryce got out and drowned in a small fish pond on my back patio. He is only 11 months old but has been walking since 9 months and walks and runs like a 2 year old.
He was transferred to Valley Childrens Hospital in Madera from Mercy Tuesday night late.. Him and his mom flew in the helicopter and I flew in the car...lol.... I almost beat the helicopter.. They only beat me by 10 min dangit....lol.... Anyways.. His mom found him and I had got him from here and called 911 and followed there instructions. It is the hardest thing to see a baby lifeless.
He is doing alot better than the doctors expected. He is still in critical condition but is doing alot better than they thought he would be doing. It is still a very long process.
The doctors first said he would not make it and if he did he would be brain dead. He has already proven them wrong. He is a awesome baby and a fighter. It is in Gods hands and we are blessed with all the great people he has put around us and with all the support from friends and family and people we don't even know here at the hospital.

Please put him and his Mom in your prayers. It will be along process but are blessed with the progress so far.

Wow Jackie that is terrible news. I really hate to here about anything happening to a child. Sounds like he is a fighter. My family will be thinking about yours.

Thank you to everyone who has responded with prayer. I wanted to let everyone know Bryce is recovering well. He has confused the doctors in a good way. He has come farther than they expected. Is is going to make it. No signs of brain damage as of now. He has responded to voices and is breathing mostly on his own. Thank everyone for your prayers!!!

While everyone is prayer for the wood family please also put a girl from taft her name is Ashley Ape she was a Worcs quad racer. She was over in bako on april 1 at a pratice track and took a very bad wreck the front bumper of the quad landed on her head/helmet and crushed it she has be in acoma since then but she is starting come out. She is doing very well by what the docs say. she can move all of her limbs. But now they just say its a waiting game only time will tell. My Sister in law was on site when the wreck happened watching her 5 yr old son ride also. She is a RN nurse so they said if she wasnt there that ashley wouldnt be here today

It amazes me to see the racing community rally together like this. Time and time again we ask for prayer and see God move in our midst. It is amazing when God is involved, things change and people are healed. I pray not only for the family but for those who don’t believe, when you see God move you cannot deny he exist. God has moved and lives have changed, when He answers our prayers it is a testament to the world of His love and power. I praise God that the world can see his hand on our lives. When test come don’t loose sight, keep your eyes on God and believe his promises. Allow God to move in your life......

I just won't to thank everyone for the prayers. As you have heard from my wonderful family he is doing alot better than the doctors expected.
I know and you should know it is not up to the doctors and they have know idea whats going to happen they just have to guess.
The only person that really knows is the the LORD above and he has blessed us so far and will continue. He has a plan and we just follow.

The next few days is the key time for the baby. Please keep the prayers going. We got some good news from the nurse today not much but good. His pupil are reacting to light very well and both of them are the same so they said that is a good sign.

Just wanted to update everyone on the baby.
He is doing about the same they are keeping him pretty heavily medicated to help him relaxed and make sure the pressure on his brain stays down. He has been waking up more often and responds to his mom and yesterday she was talking to him and he raised his arms when she was asking him if he wanted to go bye bye. The neurology doctor was just sitting there looking and all he could say was WOW!.... lol...... He is doing things that the doctors thought he wouldnt do. We tried to tell him that it is God doing the work but I don't think he can really comment on that or he don't believe it one or the other...lol....

They are gonna start lowering the medication that knocks him out and see how he does. They also are going to take out the monitor that checks his pressure on his brain today and do another CT Scan and see how he is doing.

Thank everyone for the Prayers and thank god for the miracle he has given us so far.

Good news jacky the girl i was talking about earlier on this thread it doing very well they already did plastic surgery to repair her face so thats a good sign.

all of you might of heard of the wreck on old river and panama that was a ex-co worker of mine great guy just retired from chevron about a year and a half ago.. it sucks that you work all of your life for the relaxing time of retirement then it is cut short by a jack ass that runs a stop sign

Jeff I have kept that little girl in our prayers also and sorry to here about your friend from work.

I just wanted to give another update I just got from the baby's mom. They are going to take him completly off the sedation meds and wake him up and try and take the ventalator breathing tubes out tomorrow and see how he does. If he stay's breathing on his own and can breath and cough up junk they will leave him off of the machine.
We need lots of prayers for Bryce and that god will do his work and keep this baby breathing.

It never seems to end my wife came down to cedar Sinai hospital in Hollywood on wendsday and we where going to be home by Friday but now she is not doing good and we won't be home till Tuesday or Thursday so the car is on hold and don't know when we will hit the track the graphics are done so one step at a time. Then we have to come back may7 for another surgery

Baby Bryce was called home by God last night. Please say prayers for comfort for his mom and siblings. Kiss your kids and let them and the ones you love know you love them.

I am sorry I haven't updated much. Last Thursday they took him completly off the sedation medication and he curled up like a ball. So that meant that he had developed severe brain damage and was not responding to anything. His mom had to make a decision on what to do and she choose not to let him suffer or live that way. They took him completly off the sedation meds and ventilator on Friday and said that he would live 7 to 10 days. He was breathing on his own but could not live with out a trach and feeding tubes and he would be nothing all he would do is lay there and would need 24hr care for the rest of his life. His mom didn't won't him to suffer like that so she made the decision to let him go home to God.

He made it until last night around 8:00pm and god called him home to have a happy life and he doesnt have to suffer anymore.

I thank everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Please keep his mom and sibilings in your prayers for comfort and support. God does everything for a reason rather we understand it or not.

I came home and kissed our 2 year old baby girl and gave her a big hug just like you said.
Nothing we can say will help you, your girlfriend, and your family get thru the loss of Bryce. Trust in HIM and HE will help you all get thru.

We don't know you at all, but learned of Bryce and this thread through some 4 wheel racer friends of ours. We have been following your story since and praying daily for you all.

We are deeply saddened for your loss of Bryce yesterday and will continue to pray for you all still. God gives us life, but He can take it away just as easy. We are prayerful that He comforts you and gives you immense strength to get through this. You know that Bryce is in a much better place in God's Kingdom now. He entered Heaven, free of pain now and is able to live an eternal life that us here on earth can only dream about.

While you guys are at it.....will you pray for my hubby Steve.
Steve is the son of an old Bakersfield Speedway driver Leon Stanfield and brother-in-law to driver 55c Clyde Benson.
Steve has spent may years out at that old track....then he went into the Air Force and spent almost 22 years in the service and was medically retired. He is a 100% serviced connected Viet Nam Vet....Desert Shield...and Desert Storm era Vet.
Steve has suffered for years with Spinal Stenosis, degenerative disk disease and many other problem and in the last year and a half with liver disease. A couple of weeks ago Steve fell and broke his back and was told he'd be bed fast the rest of his life and would have no quality of life (not that he had much before the fall) without surgery.
Last Monday Steve had an 6 hour surgery on his back and he is not doing good at all. His liver is sicker and his kidneys aren't working very good either. He is in the ICU at the Loma Linda VA Hospital and is in critical condition. He's also got an infection going on.

He really needs all the prayers he can get right now.

It has been awhile since I have been on the site. I am truly sorry for your loss. I also lost a child when he was 3 mos. old. That was 25 yrs. ago and I can tell you that it does get easier, but he will forever be in your hearts. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. :'(
